This Studio Seconds Chromatone lever is fully functional, precision-fit, and made from the same 316L surgical grade stainless steel as our standard release. Every lever is inspected by hand before it ships.
It performs identically but did not meet our strict cosmetic QC for first-edition pieces.
Cosmetic notes may include:
- slight PVD color variation
- anomalous surface texture
- aesthetic inconsistencies
None of these affect durability, feel, or the brewing experience.
All Studio Seconds sales are final.
On grading and photos
Photos are representative. Studio Seconds vary from piece to piece, so the lever you receive will not match the photograph exactly.
I grade every piece by hand. That judgement comes from handling hundreds of levers across every finish we make, and I hold each one to the standard I would want applied to a lever I kept. It is a considered call, not a measurement.
On variation
Made in small batches. Metal forming, machining, hand finishing and coating each leave their mark.
Expect variation between pieces, and variation across a single piece. Surface texture is not uniform. The brushed grain can run deeper in one area than another. Coating tone can shift along the length of a lever. Fine machining marks and coating texture are visible on close inspection.
None of this affects fit or function. It is normal and expected.

Very good quality, I can't see any defects, and this is a studio second. Ultra high standards probably. Eliminates all fear I had from the switch, which is awesome (:
Glad to hear the lever has exceeded your expectations. Certainly pride ourselves on ultra-high quality standards across the board. Thanks for the review and I'm glad to hear it's working without reservation for you. Enjoy the brews.
Great product and seller. Highly recommend this if you want to elevate your pour over game.
Eric, appreciate the note on the service side as much as the product. Both matter, and I'm grateful you put trust in the lever.
