The Hario Switch gives you control over extraction. Close the valve, water stays in contact with the grounds. Open it, gravity pulls through. The lever is how you make that call, every brew, multiple times a brew. It's the one component you actually touch.

Why 316L

I wanted the lever to be the best version of itself. 316L surgical grade stainless steel was the answer. It handles boiling water, thermal cycling, and daily contact with coffee without question. Same grade used in surgical instruments and marine hardware. It was more than necessary, and that was the point.

Getting the Geometry Right

The lever actuates a ball valve with tight tolerances. A few millimeters off and you lose the snap, or the seal. The design started with detailed scans of the Switch internals, then moved through several prototype iterations to dial in the fit, the actuation force, and the feel.

Functional dimensions are held to ±0.1mm. The lever fits the way the original was designed to fit.

Finishing

The base lever is hand-brushed after casting. No mold lines. No polished-over imperfections. PVD and DLC coatings are applied by industrial coating partners for the colored and coated finishes. Each lever is inspected before it ships.

Small Runs

GoodSwitch levers are produced in small batches. Every unit is checked. The tradeoff is availability. When a run sells out, the next one takes time.
